Privacy

This page says what People's Branch collects, why, and what we never do. It is written to match our App Store privacy labels exactly. If the app changes, this page changes in the same release.

What we collect, and why

Everything below is tied to your account (an anonymous account, or one linked to Sign in with Apple). We use it for one purpose: making the app work for you. We do not sell data, and we do not use it for advertising.

  • Email address and name. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the email and name your Apple ID shares. Your name appears on messages you choose to send to your representatives, because those messages are from you.
  • Account and device identifiers. A server account id, and a device token if you turn on notifications.
  • Location, only when you ask us to find your representatives. A ZIP code, or a precise location if you choose to share it. We use it to resolve your congressional district.
  • What you do in the app, for you. Your positions and votes on bills, your civic record and its export, listening history, watches, follows, interests, muted topics, what you choose to share, messages you send to representatives, and feedback you write to us.
  • Purchase status. If you subscribe, Apple sends us a receipt so we can turn on what you paid for. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card.

What we never do

  • No advertising, no ad frameworks, no cross-app tracking of any kind.
  • No selling or renting your data. Not to anyone, not ever.
  • No analytics capture today. The app has consent-gated analytics code, and it is switched off. If we ever turn it on, it will ask you first, and this page and our App Store labels will change to say so.
  • No collection of your searches. Search terms stay on your device.
  • The address you type to find your representatives is used for the lookup and is not logged or kept.

Your data, your record

Your civic record belongs to you. You can export it from the app, and you can ask us to delete your account and its data. Deletion requests are honored by a person, and we confirm when it is done. Deleting your account removes your data, including from backups within 35 days.
